Placenta Anyone

Oh the abundant choices there are. Mark and I are still deciding what to do with the placenta a.k.a little mother after birth. There are somethings I feel comfortable about and there are somethings Mark doesn't feel comfortable about. The placenta is RICH in nutrients and is what provided nourishment to the infant while in the womb. In many cultures the placenta is known to be sacred and each culture does something special with it after it's delivered. For instance in the Hawaiian culture (according to the Hawaiian Village Plantation) burying the placenta by a tree is to hope that your child will grow up knowing their roots or culture. I like that idea but recently I heard of another option. Which is quite interesting. View the following video and tell me what you honestly think.

What would you do with your placenta? Just curious.

hey you, its leslie from the animal house, just happened to come upon your blog! my cousin did this recently and i am a fan of it. she also had me mix a little of the fresh stuff in a smoothie soon after the birth, and she froze some to do that with over the next few days. she believed it helped her heal quickly. she also did hypnobirthing for her last 2 births (she has 3 kids).

nice to see your blog and what you're up to.

That video was so interesting. At first it felt sort of gross, but then I started to think some more and I had such a bad recovery with #1, I hope #2 is better. (that is why I'm hoping natural childbirth helps in this area)I didn't know people did this as an occupation. I was curious and looked to see if there were any placenta encapsulation specialists here in Denver and there is! The thing is, it cost $225. I just don't have the $ right now, but if you do this let me know if you really notice a difference then maybe I'll do it when I have #3.

@Leslie how are you? We need to reconnect. I was wondering how you were doing and what you've been up to. Smoothie idea, I actually thought about that but I think my husband will disown me:)

@Natalie- I know it can be expensive. Maybe someone will do it for cheaper. My midwife offered to do it for free, I mean it came with the package deal. I can't seem to convince my husband but we'll see.
