Okay I got a thing for Sheri Dew. I just think she is totally amazing! Her knowledge of the gospel and her ability to teach in a way that is interesting and inspiring helps people like me. I just finished her book "If Life Were Easy, It Wouldn't Be Hard". Reading it helped me understand how necessary trials are in our life and how we should be grateful for them. Easy to say, I know, but dang it's true. The following are a few quotes she refers to that I just loved:
"Elder Jeffrey R. Holland put motherhood in historical as well as spiritual perspective: Mothers," "Yours is the grand tradition of Eve, the mother of all the human family....Yours is the grand tradition of Sarah & Rebekah & Rachel, without whom there could not have been those magnificent patriarchal promises to Abraham, Isaac, & Jacob....Yours is the grand tradition of Lois & Eunice & the mothers of the 2,000 stripling warriors. Yours is the grand tradition of Mary, chosen and foreordained from before this world was, to conceive, carry, and bear the Son of God Himself. We thank all of you...and tell you there is nothing more important in this world than participating so directly in the work and glory of God.... Yours is the work of salvation, and therefore you will be magnified, compensated, made more than you are and better than you have ever been as you try to make an honest effort, however feeble you may sometimes feel that to be".
President Joseph F. Smith "the love of a true mother comes nearer to being like the love of God than any other kind of love".
Lorenzo Snow "a mother who has brought up a family of faithful children ought to be saved, if she never does another good thing".
Other things she has helped me realize is that the family is central to Heavenly Father's plan, which means the family is also central to the adversary's plan. He will attack and try his best to destroy a family, whether through pride, selfishness, pornography, infidelity etc. He will work hard to convincing families that children are not a delight and having one child or no children is so much easier. That way to stop spirits from gaining bodies and experiencing life here on earth. How important is for us to strengthen our families and strengthening other families who stand in need. The greatest Joy we can experience here on earth is through our families. etc.. She also talks about Charity, how it's not exactly a feeling but a change in Nature and how only Christ can change our very natures. Anyhow great read! It has given me greater vision!
