Happy Birthday Poppy!

This is my Pop's dancing with me on my wedding day. I know that was an emotional day for him as well as for me. My dad doesn't really like celebrating his birthday. Which I don't understand because he still looks so young. Well I love you Pop's and I just want to let everyone know why you mean so much to me.

-Ever since I was young my Pop's knew that quality time with his children was important. He would take the time to play with us. My favorite was Saturday breakfast dates. Dang, I miss those.

-My Pop's knew that getting higher education would help any individual out in many different ways. As a very young girl probably 4 or 5 he would tell me "now after high school you're going to college, after college you're going to get your masters, and after your masters you're going to get your PhD." He kept doing that through out my whole childhood. Soon Pop, soon.

-My Pop's knew the importance of involving his children in extra curricular activities. He got all of us kids in baseball and softball. He would come to EVERY single game. He was a great cheerleader not only for us but for our whole team. Of course no one would know who he was cheering for except for his children because he would call everyone else by the wrong name. Don't worry Pop, I still think it's cute even until this day.

-My Pop's knew if you could do it yourself why pay someone else to do it for you. The importance of being smart with your money. If we didn't have any baseball games, he would spend his Saturdays fixing things in and out side of the house. He had these pair of jeans that he would always wear on those Saturdays, with oil stains and holes in them. Simply classic Pop!

-Last but definitely not least, the importance of being spiritually minded. My Pop's has had many spiritual experiences and he would always share them with his children, over and over and over again. These stories would place a desire in my heart to get to know God more. Ever since I was little I had a desire to be closer to God. Thank you Pop's for instilling those desires in me. He's still on a spiritual quest to find truth, which amazes me! He always wants to learn more about God and Jesus Christ. I know Pop's someday in the near future, you will find what you have been yearning for. I love you so much then words can rightfully express. Have a blessed day and I'm just grateful that you were BORN!
